The Proofreader
Written communication has been a valuable part of our civilization for thousands of years and is a time-tested way of sharing information and ideas, drawing people together and expanding knowledge.
  • Native English speaker
  • Proficient with spelling and grammar
  • High attention to detail
  • Years of experience with a worldwide client base
  • Student of Ignite Course with Proofread Anywhere
Since my school days, English grammar and composition have always been strong skills in my repertoire. I have since been able to work with many clients to proofread and copy edit many different documents, including articles and blogs, school papers and official reports, and manuals and books. My client base spans across the world as I work with others to ensure their writing sounds authentic and professional.

What does a proofreader do?
A proofreader is the last set of eyes on your project, to help you correct any final, avoidable mistakes such as typos; errors with spelling, grammar, or punctuation; and formatting. The proofreader does not make any actual changes to your document, only marking recommended corrections. It is up to you to make the changes yourself before publishing. This is different from copy editing.

What does a copy editor do?
A copy editor checks many of the same things a proofreader does—and more. A copy editor will also help with such things as fact-checking, word usage, and sentence structure, along with consistency in the writing and accuracy in extras like the table of contents, page numbers, chapter titles, footnotes, and bibliographies. Because of the extra attention to details, copy editing is charged at a higher rate than proofreading.

If you are not sure which one you require for your work, feel free to contact me to discuss your needs and options.

Really professional work! Went beyond my expectations! Even when given limited direction and resources, the final product came back far better than what my original team was able to deliver and her insights into the material were spot-on. Highly recommended!

I love the constant communication between myself and Alissa. Her professional edits and a few additional changes were spot on for the book she edited for me and the formatting was better than what I imagined. Thanks for listening to me and implementing a process I have no doubt I will use again. Great customer service and outstanding work.
